This is for the District's Comics Extravaganza that's coming up.

It's all really about confidence isn't it? In line weight, life, relationships etc.

I'm not sure which strip I wanna get together a submission packet for my final.
Hmm. It'd help if I knew of some alternative papers/zines that would be interested in my kinda stuff.

I need to figure out if I can print out bristol with just a normal printer...I gots some experimenting to do and I don't wanna fudge up my originals.

Big changes is a comin
and the extremely violent and hostile takeover begins tomorrow.

You have been warned.

(Who the fuck is D Magic, Nino Ross and Big Trees?!!?)

Lamer than Lame, uncool in every single way

Let's play a little game called "good list bad list" based off of this weekend shall we?

Good Things:
Pan's Labyrinth
Having a clean room
Meeting District Deadlines
Meeting the other cartoonists in the District
Pan's Labyrinth's soundtrack
Finding Mixtapes I didn't know existed
Learning that Three Six Mafia's new album comes out the day after my birthday
Actually using french curves
Pancake Palace
Writing new lyrics
Elise playing doctor on my bloody hand
Impersonating a lab rat chasing cheese
Getting into things I shouldn't

Bad things:
Cartoonists block
Writer's Block
Driving all the way down Abercorn at night without lights on
Spilling tea in my car
Clean room returning to it's former hellish glory
Brooding. A lot.
Not sleeping for no reason
Getting inspired to write new lyrics
Cutting my left hand up on a fence
Elise playing doctor on my bloody hand
Impersonating a lab rat and getting shocked repeatedly because I ain't bright enough to stop chasing the wrong cheese.
Getting into things I shouldn't

Oh well!

Skip Divided

Quick doodle in painter...trying to play w/ heavy blacks.

I reaaaally need to scan some stuff soon.

I'm going to try and finish my layout tonight so I can spend tomorrow night studying for math.

Ah, and my desktop is organized again!

Choux Pastry Heart

All sequential artist's have pet projects.
This is from mine.

After tonight I should be caught up and back on a "normal" work/sleep schedule I believe.

Math test this week.

Hopefully this weekend: Music, Pan's Labyrinth and drawing drawing drawing!

The updates are going to be kinda spotty until I get monkey shot scanned.

This little sketch looks like what is going on in my mind when certain people talk to me.

Anyway, I'm almost done with my 10 strips for cartooning tomorrow! Starting over was prob. the best decision I could've made. Monkey Shot is so much more fun and interesting than Hefty and Chauncey (they need work...they just come off as boring and depressing and I was NOT in the mood for that, especially after so many bitter Get Bent strips.)

So Monkey Shot is fun, cute and has looney tune's like violence. yay.

Beauty killed the beast

Lost my debit card.
Returned to a now broken ipod.
Drawing awesome comic strips with jungle animals. (AND THEY'S AINT RAUNCHY!!!)
Gotta wait till tues. to get money
I got free pizza today.

Up down up down.

oh well.

I picked up 4 volumes of Bruce Jones run on the Hulk. The first one sucks, but it gets better as it goes along. It reminds me more of how the old show was instead of like..hulk going around fighting other giant creatures and screaming "HULK SMASH."

Also, I'm going to buy stuff by these people when I gets my money situation back in order:

Scad Grad students: good stuff.

I have "The Empire State Building" from the King Kong soundtrack on repeat.

I just realized I have a thing for misunderstood monsters. (King Kong, Hulk, Frankenstein, Godzilla, Jekyl/Hide, Grendel...)

Alrighty. Back to Monkey Shot.

Me after Megacon.

I'm much more excited about the small press cons now though...

Thursday, February 15, 2007

I left my conscience pressed between the pages of the bible in the drawer...

Going to bed early so no drawings tonight...

Megacon is tomorrow. Hopefully the next post will be interesting.
The bus ride will be spent writing 10 new strips. Sat. and Sun. will be spent drawing and inking them. I spend too much time on my concepts and not enough on the drawing side of thing.

Do ya think I'm sexy?

The Big Lipped Beast.

You know I is!

Almost done with the simpsons storyboards. Restarting my comic strips. Megacon.
Yup yup.

Valentine's actually wasn't bad.
Nate just gave me a plate of cookies.

I don't see how I haven't turned into a giant pile of fat and goo. I've been living off of valentine's candy, pancake palace and hot cheetos lately. (and now this amazing plate of cookies)

I'm gonna cook real food this weekend though...

Here's a valentine's comic explosion!

A true tale of the big lipped beast, two random cartoons and an all new Get Bent!:

If you got somebody enjoy today (but stay outta my face!) and if you ain't got nobody then..well. Um. Go cry and make comics!

Hello, Goodbye

As poopy as valentine's usually is my dear sweet mamma always sends me stuff.
(Jimi Hendreix hat, Spongebob Chocolates, Butterfingers, Gummi Bears and some m & m's)

And this weird ass shirt...

She also included twenty bucks which went towards feeding me tonight.

Here's a sketch I did in painter of Goldie Locks and her three bears. I actually gave this concept to someone else in scripting but I think I still want to do something with it myself at some point.

I registered for classes today. Next quarter I will be taking:

MW-8AM-Backgrounds Props and Structures with Goto
TR 11- Pen and Ink II with Gildersleeve
TR 2- Psychology with..umm...somebody.

It's almost over and it's creeping past that "terrifying" point into something a bit worse.

I was so excited to do such normal things with you...

Here's two pages from one of the "Mississippi Mythology" stories I wrote. I really should go back and finish it up. I like how they're taken out of context here (guy in bed, random people fighting, lady attacks a preacher) I assure you if it were completed it would make sense!
I rarely post my pencil's up because I usually work fairly loose and I'm sure nobody wants to see me scribble all over the place!

Here's a little color study I did in water color of one of my mom's's so hard to scan a friggin painting then get the colors to what they are in real life. (I think they're poinsettia's)

I went to the mini comics workshop at turner saturday night and it was pretty cool. I got to trade with a few people and mingle with a my fellow sequential kids. I saw a mini there that was done on legal paper and that gave me a great idea: Get Bent is definitely going to be printed that size! I want it to be kinda just obnoxious and in your face and why not print it bigger than a normal mini? (Also, it'll keep me from having to print the strips horizontal)

The Simpsons storyboards are coming along...
My ten comic strips for cartooning are being written still. It's a bit more difficult this time because I have to keep it clean. It's kinda funny because the longer things I've written aren't as "extreme" as my short works. Go figure.

I'm SO happy to be able to make music again (and even with someone else again).
It's nice to have some system of checks and balances going on so it's not all of my craziness going on. It'll also help me keep too much personal junk out of my lyrics.

If you haven't heard em yet. (Fourteen songs from last summer/winter break.)

Also, classes I'm hopefully taking next quarter: Psychology, Backgrounds Prop's and Structures, and Pen and Ink II

Good times.
This week should be an interesting one.

something from materials and techniques

The first day I'm late with a post!!!

I was at a friends house working on some music though so it's ok right? yes?

oh well.

Trap or Die

I wrote this out, thought I posted it. There was a pretty long entry. oh well.

That's my first editorial cartoon. I kinda like how the conte forced me to try something new, but not too happy with the concept. (I wanted it to double as a fungus and a mushroom cloud)

Umm. yeah. Can't remember what all i wrote before.

Heart Cooked Brain

A very frumpy Little Chode and Richard. Sculpey's really not my thing.

This should be an interesting weekend. Simpsons storyboards, Comic strips (a new CLEAN adventure strip!!!) a little Get Bents on the side, Mini comics workshop, probably watching the anchorman and amelie at some point.

Next weekend: MEGACON....never been to a con before. Should be interesting.

That link will take you to my webspace so you can listen to 14 new Blind Mellow Jelly songs!
It put them in some funky order but oh well. Check it out.

I now also have propellerhead reason which means: BEATS BEATS BEATS!!!
Not sure if I wanna try rap or some weird electronic stuff...
Ah hell, I'll do both!

Brown Paper Bag

Another Growth drawing from last year sometime.

Experimenting on the machine...

I'm not going to write too much cause I gotta get to work.
I'm almost out of this.

Winning a battle, losing the war.

This one's called escaping the womb. Yes Austin, more blobs!

Here are some sketches of Nate from "True Tales of the Big Lipped Beast." He's one of my roommates (my other roommates character design is under lock and key...shh. Don't tell her about it.) I made Nate a little Chinchilla cause they're small and cute (and a lot of girls are always saying Nates small and cute so there ya go.)

I think I'm almost back on track. Still shaky. I'm pretty sure my sleep habits will return to a semi reasonable state sometime next week.

I'm going to a mini comics workshop thing this weekend that I'm really kinda hype about. Also Fluke in April.

Get Bent will return to this Blog starting on Valentine's Day.
So what are you giving me on that oh so lovely day hmm?

Mechanical Animals

Another growth drawing.

This is from pen and ink 1, we had to pencil and ink a page from "Gotham by Gaslight"
My roommate is finally getting a car.
I cleaned lots of bird poop off my car today. Lots.

Watch the vultures count the hours

This is one of a few "portraits" I did of the growth. Don't really feel like explaining that right now. A few more will come up soon though.

I did this a good while ago, just thought I'd post it so there's some actual comics pages on here instead of just random drawings and caricatures.

My old laptop (rip) is now my new little external hard drive. Hooray for technology.

It's cool getting my stuff back, but I think some of it is missing which sucks.

I don't think I'm going to make the anthology this year and that makes me sad.

I should probably be inking/drawing/making comics.

Last thing I wanna do now though.

(Go listen to the dresden doll's album "yes virignia...")

I thinks I'm in love.

Here's maybe what the mini for True Tales of the Big Lipped Beast will look like.

That's me. The big lipped beast.

Guess who.....
Jon Stewart.
(No I don't get all of my news from the Daily Show. I actually don't watch it.)

I'm enjoying doing these one panel gags...3/4 of them are penciled. I'm gonna go cook some breakfast type things then come back and finish up the 4th then get to my maquette.
Hopefully I can keep on through the night and start penciling Percy Versus tonight. This anthology is making Valentines Day seem more ominous than usual.

At least I'll be making comics to keep my mind off it.

Guess who.........

It's FIDDY! G G G G G G G-Eunuch! (50 cent for you white folk)
I intended to put G-Eunuch on his hat but forgot while inking...
Goofy as 50 is I like listening to him a lot, especially while inking.
This is one of three caricatures I did for my Cartooning class.

I have a lot of work to do this weekend (four one panel comics, one painted/finishing up my maquette..scary/and of course, penciling Percy Versus the Alien Menace) so I might kinda disappear for a bit. I'll still update this though; I scanned a good bit of stuff so it won't get behind.

Give up?

Oh come on?

Gotcha, it's Jessica, another classmate.

I'm taking Elise to a dealership tomorrow so she can test drive a car.
Let it be known that I am terrified to ride in a vehicle with this girl behind the wheel.

Thursday, February 1, 2007

That mesh of colors above is called "Lovers in Red and Blue." Playing with color is a little known hobby of mine so I might post some of my little digital paintings every now and then (and some of the real ones if I ever get around to scanning them.)

Also here's a caricature of a guy from my class named "Steve."

There'll be more caricatures in the next few days and maybe some other goodies.

And all of you should just Get Bent. Seriously.
The first strip is running this friday in the District.
Check it out.
